Wayzata Water Damage Restoration

When severe storm damage compromised the rear addition of this Wayzata home, extensive water intrusion led to significant rot and structural deterioration throughout one of the property's most unique architectural features—a curved, round room overlooking the backyard. What began as a damage restoration project quickly evolved into a complete reconstruction and transformation of the space.

The storm damage had destroyed much of the room's windows, framing, interior and exterior trim, and flooring. Our team carefully removed all compromised materials and rebuilt the structure from the framing outward, restoring the integrity of the home while addressing the underlying issues that allowed water infiltration to occur.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the room's curved design. Reconstructing the framing and trim required a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, as standard building techniques and materials are rarely suited for a structure of this shape. Custom fitting and finishing were essential to ensure every component followed the room's unique radius while maintaining a seamless, finished appearance.

Rather than simply restoring the space to its original condition, the homeowners chose to reimagine the room as a dedicated home fitness area. New flooring, windows, trim work, and finishes transformed the damaged addition into a bright, functional workout room designed for everyday use.

To further protect the home from future moisture concerns, the existing pergola attached to the rear of the house was removed and rebuilt as a detached structure. This modification created proper separation from the exterior wall assembly, allowing for improved water management and a more durable building envelope.



The completed project successfully combined structural restoration, custom craftsmanship, and thoughtful design improvements, turning a heavily damaged space into one of the home's most functional and visually striking features.
